Simon & Schuster, LLC, is looking for a Marketing Analyst to help grow the highly successful Pimsleur language learning subscription business. This role is crucial in driving data-driven marketing strategies and optimizing campaign effectiveness across web and in-app campaigns.
Responsibilities:
The Marketing Analyst will bring analytical expertise and strategic thinking, dissect complex data sets, and provide actionable insights to support the growth of the Pimsleur brand. Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Marketing Team: Collaborate with marketing team members to define test strategies, analyze and interpret web and in-app campaign data, provide insights that influence future testing and strategies to improve acquisition and retention goals.
- Data Analysis: Analyze key performance indicators such as CVR, CPA, ROAS, etc. to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and tests.
- Media Mix Modeling: Implement and manage Media Mix Modeling to optimize budget allocation across various marketing channels.
- Multi-Touch Attribution: Develop and maintain multi-touch attribution models to measure the effectiveness of different marketing touchpoints.
- Customer Insights: Analyze customer data to uncover insights that will drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.
- Reporting: Create detailed reports and data visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Data Collection and Management: Gather detailed technical requirements for marketing initiatives.
- Communication with Developers: Effectively communicate requirements to the development team to ensure the data is accurate, clean, and properly organized for analysis.
- Own Data Dictionary: Maintain and update our data dictionary to ensure consistency across platforms and clarity across teams.
Skills Required:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a marketing analyst or similar role, preferably within a subscription-based business including web and mobile data.
- Event-Driven Analytics: Expertise in event-driven analytics to gather actionable insights from user interactions and events.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Google Analytics 4. Experience with a Customer Data Platform (CDP) like Amplitude, and a Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) like Kochava preferred.
- Data Visualization: Transform complex data into clear, actionable insights through charts, graphs, and dashboards using tools like Looker.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills including data structuring, quantitative reasoning, and mathematical analysis to examine and interpret data.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
- A/B Testing: Experience with A/B testing tools like Convert or Optimizely to help define which metrics should be measured and ensuring requirements are captured.
- Data Automation: Leverage programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA, etc.) to clean and process large datasets, and conduct advanced analysis.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Marketing, Business, or a related quantitative field.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
