Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager (Hotel Exp Required)
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, the Sales & Marketing Manager coordinates and executes items related to the marketing and sales operation of the Ethan Allen Hotel. Responsible for the management and solicitation of a designated market.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience with Corporate Business Transient & Group Sales.
- Comfortable with reading/understanding the STR report.
- Understands how/why to set room rates at appropriate seasons.
- Oversee marketing strategies for the hotel via web, in-person events, trade shows, and cold calls.
- Plan, direct, organize, and control departmental activities such as telemarketing, outside sales calls, conducting walking tours, entertaining clients, developing, and soliciting new leads, presenting, and preparing written proposals and contracts.
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Gather, organize, and disseminate both written and verbal information regarding the specific requirements of client events to the appropriate departments and individual clients in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant, and professional manner.
- Develop target lists and action plans for account solicitation. Assist in assignment and distribution of leads. Provide guidance in prospecting and qualifying potential leads.
- Develop and cultivate current and new relationships with local and business afar.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum education level at High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of hotel or equivalent sales experience.
- Strong knowledge of the geographic designated market, preferably Danbury area and the surrounding towns, and ability to travel throughout designated market in a timely manner.
- Effectively able to deal with guests and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong forecasting and decision-making skill set.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Adaptabilityto change in work area and hotel procedures.
- Willingness to learn new skills and/or improve on existing ones.
- Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help when necessary.
- Ability to maintain a positive guest and associate experience.
- Ability to book, contract, follow through, and finalize billing for groups or transient business.
