Director of Sales and Marketing
Primary Purpose of Position
The Director of Sales and Marketing’s key objectives are to develop and execute comprehensive strategies that align both sales and marketing efforts to achieve overall business goals, such as increasing revenue, market share, and customer satisfaction, by overseeing both sales and marketing activities to generate leads, convert them into customers, and effectively maintain customer relationships. The DSM is responsible for direct oversight of the Sales and Marketing departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and organize the effective daily operations of the Sales department, ensuring an efficient structure that fosters a climate for selling that maximizes all potential sources for Ranch revenues.
- Organize and execute sales and marketing strategies as defined in the Ranch’s Marketing Plan, using this plan as a road map for annual proactive strategies. This includes Public Relations, Social Media, Advertising, Promotion, FIT affiliations, GDS Core Marketing, Group/Incentive, and Travel Agency relationship.
- Define territories and/or markets for each member of the sales team with defined monthly/quarterly/annual sales goals and measurable incentives designed to exceed budgeted revenues.
- Produce an accurate 30-60-90 day forecast for review at the weekly revenue meeting. Prepare strategy and action items to address and remedy shoulder periods and shortcomings to budgeted targets. Develop and assign action items for production concerns for team members and/or market segments.
- Maintain professional, proper communication with producing Travel Agents (TA). Develop strategies to garner new TA business. Use the Ranch’s marketing affiliations and PR Firm to assist.
- Develop and maintain a professional, productive relationship with the PR Firm and marketing affiliations, ensuring frequent detailed communication and programming of content that allows our partners to generate leads, media and future business for the Ranch.
- Execute a national marketing campaign to drive all business lines to the Ranch.
- Establish, execute and direct the Ranch’s social media strategy, showing the marketplace an on-going, consistent message via defined social media outlets including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Yelp, Trip Advisor, Pintrest, etc.
- Execute the effective selling to the corporate and incentive markets locally, regionally, nationally and globally as defined by the group rooms’ budget.
- Assist in the development and successful attainment of the Ranch’s annual operating budget.
- Ensure collaboration with Ranch Partnerships and appropriate marketing and representation with key relationships (Forbes, Relais & Chateaux, Virtuoso and all OTAs).
Education/Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Management, Communications or HRTM or applicable equivalent experience
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in luxury hospitality sales and marketing.
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a luxury resort/hotel Director of Sales and Marketing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Illustrator. Adobe Suite.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of Oracle systems: including Opera PMS, Symphony, Book4Time, OSEM, Alice preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
