Staff Housing Maintenance Technician
Job Summary: The Staff Housing Assistant and Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting the Housing Coordinator in maintaining the housing facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for all staff members. This role includes performing general maintenance, repairs, and various handyman tasks, as well as assisting with housing support services.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
○ Conduct routine inspections of housing facilities to identify maintenance needs.
○ Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting.
○ Assist with simple repairs, cleanliness, and maintenance of onsite housing areas.
○ Address urgent maintenance issues and ensure timely resolution.
Facility Management:
○ Help maintain the staff housing area and equipment.
○ Act as an onsite liaison for employees living in the staff area, providing assistance during lockouts and emergency procedures.
○ Help move large furniture items and assemble furniture (e.g., beds, dressers).
○ Perform lawn mowing and light landscaping tasks.
○ Assist in picking up inventory for housing supplies.
Housing Coordination:
○ Assist with the preparation and turnover of housing units for incoming staff.
○ Ensure accommodations for new arrivals are ready and that departing employees leave their accommodations in good repair.
○ Restock and distribute employee supplies.
Customer Service:
○ Provide assistance to staff residents, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.
○ Facilitate communication between residents and management regarding maintenance issues.
Safety and Compliance:
○ Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
○ Assist in maintaining a clean and safe living environment, including common areas.
Additional Duties:
○ Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities as required.
○ Assist with special projects related to housing and facilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
● Proven experience in maintenance, handyman services, or a related field.
● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
● Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Working Conditions:
● This position may require working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
● Availability for on-call or after-hours emergencies as needed.
