Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator – Rides
Milwaukee County Zoo
Hourly Pay Range: $25.93 - $29.90

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator will perform and oversee team members in the inspection, mechanical maintenance, repair, and daily operation standards of Zoo Rides and Attractions. The position is also responsible for all maintenance records and permits while ensuring accurate and complete documents.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead the work of Train Locomotive Engineers and Ride Maintenance, including scheduling, instructing, training, assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others.
- Inspect all rides routinely, troubleshoot mechanical issues, create repair plans, and digitally document all records of maintenance.
- Ensure all rides and vending operations are operational daily. Staffing of rides when necessary. Focus on the maintenance and daily operation of rides. Supervise all of Rides and Attractions in the Supervisor’s absence.
- For all rides and vending: prepare and maintain purchase orders, receipts, invoices, work orders, credit card logs, schedules, inspection reports, ride down time tracking, and all ride incident and accident reports. Participate and lead by example on the Zoo Safety Committee. Communicate directly with the marketing and communication teams on daily ride operations.
- Training of all ride operations to all Zoo Rides and Attractions team members. Participate and operate all Rides and Attractions at the Zoo. Operate and overhead crane, diesel locomotives, carousel, chair lift, ropes course, and zip line.
- Communicate and collaborate with various departments, the public, immediate supervisor, other Zoo managers and staff, including, but not limited to, marketing and communication, guests, vendors, contractors, inspectors, and manufacturer representatives. Act as the point of contact for train and rides related questions and serve as the ambassador for this area.
- Use a maintenance project plan that achieves goals of reducing downtime, extending equipment life, optimizing equipment performance, accelerating service requests response, and increasing visibility and appearance. Include timelines and preventative maintenance schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a current resident of Wisconsin.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, maintained throughout employment.
- Associate degree or higher in theme park management, diesel mechanics, mechanical maintenance, or project management training.
- Received training in theme park management, diesel mechanics, and maintenance project management.
- Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Two (2) or more years of experience at or in at least one of the following areas:
- Zoo
- Large amusement park
- Family entertainment center
- Hospitality
- Tourism venue
- One (1) or more years of supervisory or management experience planning daily operational maintenance and operation of Rides and Attractions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced changing environment and manage the daily workload efficiently and effectively.
- Strong customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to diagnose rides and provide preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to digitally document all ride maintenance actions.
