Summary/Objective:
The Shop Technician is an entry level role that serves as a jumping off point to a variety of opportunities. Learn the different aspects of running the shop from warehousing to plastic and metal welding, further to assembly and fabrication of skidded process systems, then field service leading to instrument technician. Willing to train.
Competencies:
- Mechanical and Problem-Solving Skills.
- Use of typical hand tools
- Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
- Basic welding skills are a plus.
- Basic fabrication skills are a plus.
- Strong work ethic.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
Work Environment: This job operates in a shop environment both on company and customer site locations. This role routinely uses hand and power tools as well as office equipment such as laptop computers, and smartphones.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Travel will be local. There may be times where overnight travel is required but that will be an exception.
Required Education and Experience:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Previous work history of 2 to 3 years in a shop environment, or similar, is preferred.
Required License and certifications:
- Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license.
- Good driving record.
