Job Description Summary:
As the Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for providing company-wide technical expertise and leadership for our automation product lines of sensors, gauges, meters, and controls that support technical solutions for our customers and sales support teams. You will be required to learn and master the functional and technical aspects of our core product lines to provide superior product support knowledge to our customers and sales teams. This includes working with our inside and outside sales personnel to identify new business opportunities through projects requiring special technical application assistance. As a key contact and representative of our supplier partners, you will lead the efforts to bring new technologies and products they develop to help solve our customers’ requirements. You will work with our supplier partners on prioritizing and coordinating the training efforts of our sales team and customers to ensure they are competent with knowledge of the benefits and application of these technical products. You will help in finding new and additional business through projects requiring technical application assistance. Market and promote the primary focus product lines assigned, along with develop and implement sales growth strategies in conjunction with outside and inside sales personnel.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Be a technical expert for our primary focused product lines for automation (Sensors, flow meters, measurement, lighting, HMIs, PLC’s, sensors, networking, RFID, motion control, etc.)
- Work with sales personnel at all locations to promote automation products and services.
- Support our sales team and customers and as needed for automation solutions requests and/or projects that require technical application assistance.
- Lead and support growth efforts of the focused product lines, including establishing sales plans and targets with the sales department.
- Be the first-line technical contact for our product line partners on product support.
- Initiate and support marketing efforts to find new business through posting technical blogs, doing email blasts, proactive phone calls, physical visits, and video conferences to new/existing customers.
- Collaborate with management to improve marketing materials and expand the company’s marketing presence.
- Travel will be required as needed to assess and to guide customers on technical product selection and solutions, or to find new business.
- The outside salesperson will be the account manager, while the specialist will provide the technical guidance and expertise to move the project forward.
- Be knowledgeable of all Butler & Land ‘s products.
- Provide periodic training sessions for customers and employees via on-site and remote means.
- Participate in industry trade shows as needed to accumulate new knowledge, develop new leads and to build strong relationships with existing clients.
- Stay on top of industry trends to identify potential opportunities for company growth.
- Generate and submit sales reports related to your area of expertise as requested.
- Other responsibilities as requested by management.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Some experience and knowledge of our core technical products or other similar industrial devices.
- Self-motivated, good communicator, responsive and pro-active.
- Tech savvy and eager to learn.
- Able to travel as needed.
