Primary Job Objective
This position is responsible for maintaining security at Franklin’s Columbus operations.
Fundamental Job Tasks
Maintains a safe facility through the effective monitoring of the facility, its employees, and visitors. Monitors weather conditions and alarm systems and makes announcements regarding watches/warnings or the need to take emergency precautions. Observes emergency situation and notifies proper authorities, as needed. Remains professional and composed while coordinating employee actions during emergency situations– evacuation, emergency transport, plant shutdown. Makes detailed written and oral reports of events. Maintains door locks and master keys to ensure entry in times of emergency.
Addresses facility issues by observing unusual or new appearances, sounds, or odors, taking reports of the same, and reporting information as needed. Monitors security cameras throughout shift. Reports any unusual observations to the appropriate personnel.
Positively represents Franklin by appropriate interactions with visitors and employees. Requests and records information from visitors regarding the nature of their visit. Evaluates visitor’s access level based on purpose of the visit and prior training. Briefs visitors and employees on Franklin security procedures and policy. Informs employment applicants of openings and hiring procedures. Serves as a liaison between the employee and visitors and assists the visitor in locating his Franklin destination.
Assists with after hours business needs by serving as a point of contact with the engineering and information systems on-call program.
Monitors parking program by ensuring vehicles are registered and parking in the correct lot.
Observes all safety and environmental guidelines while handling products, raw materials and wastes.
Other Job Tasks (Non-essential)
Provides support for special events, as needed (Business Updates, National Night Out, etc.), by setting up the event area or transporting supplies. May assist with snow removal and salting sidewalks as needed.

None.
Knowledge and Skills
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license is required. One year experience in a security role is desired. Incumbent must be able to work confidentially with sensitive information and be able to interact politely with a variety of personalities in a variety of situations. Must have basic computer skills and be able to maintain a valid driver license. Requires the ability to see, hear, or smell to observe variations in the environment or facility.
Working Conditions
This position performs work in a wide variety of environments. May be subject to extreme heat or cold, along with environmental irritants when working outside (34-66%). Will work in areas or with items requiring appropriate eye, ear, head, and foot protection (PPE). Day travel for errands or employee transport, etc. may be required up to 10% of the time. The work schedule for this position regularly requires weekend work and a compressed workweek.
