Position Overview:

The Applications Engineering Intern will assist the Applications Engineering team in the management, integration, and support of IT applications and systems. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT systems administration, application support, and technology project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Support: Provide technical support for software applications, including troubleshooting issues, performing system updates, and assisting with user inquiries.
  • System Integration: Assist with the integration of applications with existing IT systems, including configuring and testing interfaces and ensuring seamless data flow.
  • Documentation: Help create and maintain technical documentation for applications, including user guides, installation procedures, and system configurations.
  • Data Management: Support data management tasks, including data migration, validation, and reporting to ensure data accuracy and system integrity.
  • Testing and Validation: Participate in the testing of new applications and system updates, including developing test cases, executing test plans, and documenting results.
  • Project Assistance: Contribute to IT projects, such as application upgrades, system implementations, and process improvements, by tracking project progress and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Assist in monitoring application performance, generating reports, and identifying areas for improvement in system efficiency and reliability.
  • Customer Interaction: Work with internal users to understand their application needs, provide support, and gather feedback for system enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of IT systems, application development, and software integration. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and database management is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with IT professionals, developers, and business users.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in application support, system configuration, and documentation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with software tools and IT applications, such as ERP systems, CRM platforms, or IT management tools.
  • Learning Orientation: A strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in IT.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiar with Visual Studios to create/modify existing projects.  VB.NET 4.8 is current standard.  C# is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL.  Creating/modifying queries will be needed for many of the applications.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s is a plus
  • Knowledge of creating dynamic reports using paginated reports (rdl) and Power BI is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SCADA software a plus.  Open Automation Systems is our current standard.  Ignition is also a platform to be considered
