Maintenance Electrician

PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position requires a strong electrical background to support the day-to-day operation of the site solving issues primarily within the electrical field but will also include other responsibilities within the traditional mechanical maintenance skills.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and analyze electrical schematics for the plant and create a path with maintenance leadership on how to fix the issues as they arise.
- Understand electrical and power systems pertaining to the plant and warehouse.
- Understand the power distribution of machines to diagnose various issues.
- Install electrical components and maintain electrical parts.
- Work individually and as part of a team with effective communication.
- Follow safety procedures and adheres to electrical codes.
- Correctly interpret technical documents to troubleshoot downed machines.
- Safely work with high voltage equipment.
- Demonstrates excellence in communication, proactively executing on tasks where needed, and taking ownership of the electrical aspects of the plant.
- Install, Maintain, and Troubleshoot electrical power distribution systems.
- Read and understand P&ID’s and other electrical / instrument related drawings.
- Troubleshoot electrical tracing systems and calibrate/install various instrumentation components.
- Work with Industrial Automation and Controls (ranging from low voltage DC to 480V, 3 Phase systems).
- Install, Maintain, and Troubleshoot VFD drives and other Motor Starter Controls.
- Pragmatically troubleshoot various electrical and mechanical systems.
- Use meters and other appropriate electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections as directed by maintenance leadership.
- Follow all safety rules and participate in all scheduled training.
- All other tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED and 5+ years’ electrical experience in a plant environment
- Journeyman Electrician or equivalent experience.
- Computer proficiency
- Willing and able to respond to electrical issues/failures/troubleshooting during all shifts; backup maintenance personnel as needed
- Proven safety experience/training and leadership regarding manufacturing operations including but not limited to confined space, lock out tag out, hot work, safe work permits, personal protective equipment, and other critical safety procedures.
- Ability to work in and/or learn all maintenance skill areas in the plant.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job including walking and standing for long periods of time and physical lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work overtime, days, nights, additional shifts, holidays, and/or weekends as needed or determined by the Maintenance Manager.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Two-year associate’s or technical degree in electrical field preferred.
- Experience working with PLC based Control Systems and their Hardware.
- Experience with and ability to read / interpret PLC Programs, using primarily Allen Bradley Software (RSlogix 500 and Rslogix 5000).
- Knowledge of applicable codes for various Electrical Systems.
