Airport Operations Regional Director
The Regional Director Role (RD), reporting to the Regional Vice President Airport Operations, will be responsible for providing leadership support and oversight in stations that are assigned. The role expectations may require up to 50% travel or more if necessary. RDs are responsible for managing all operational activities with multiple carrier contracts within their assigned region. General Managers at the station level within the assigned region report directly to the RD. This position requires working in a fast-paced dynamic 24/7 365 environment.

Responsibilities:

Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the region's current activities and projected growth, while improving processes and increasing efficiencies of the business.

Actively supports and promotes a safety culture throughout the region.

Works with Stations in region to allocate resources appropriately, specifically developing employment plans, including staffing and succession to ensure the business can continue to grow per the company plan.

Maintains fiduciary responsibility over their region including monitoring profit and loss statements and acts to mitigate accordingly.

Responsible for managing and guidance of all operational activities, multiple carrier contracts, and multiple station managers within the region.

Participate in monthly company and customer safety conference calls.

Regularly liaise with customers to ensure satisfactory service delivery and performance, visit stations and customers regularly and attend QBRs. .

Work in conjunction with Stations to determine manpower requirements for group movements, peak travel holidays, out of scope and flight schedule changes.

Support recruiting and placement efforts to ensure staffing levels meet requirements current and future.

Monitor impact of operational irregularities on such costs and ensure out of scope is documented and approved accordingly.

Review all daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to evaluate overall status of the region.

Support stations investigated service failures including chargeable delays, baggage/cargo/mail mishandling.

Complete personnel evaluations on General/Station Managers coach and mentor.

Drive succession planning within region.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree or appropriate combination of education and experience

5+ years of Airline Ground Handling industry Experience

5+ years of Experience managing and leading people with financial responsibility, preferably as a General Manager.

Executive presence and an understanding of a large corporate environments.

Large scale project management experience

Experience managing multi-customer markets.

Strong strategic skills and business acumen combined with the ability to motivate teams to deliver high quality standards.

Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional, internal and external work
relationships with all stakeholders.

Strong analytical skills.

Must be a self-directed, highly motivated, and proactive leader.

Strong communication skills; written and verbal.

Willing to rotate own schedule to be visible to all customers, team members as needed.
Skills Required:
Regional Director: Responsibilities up to and including daily responsibilities of a regional director which may include but are not limited to safety, performance management, employee engagement, issuance of progressive discipline, customer interactions, reporting, financial controls.
Communication: Communication is the act of conveying information through verbal or nonverbal means. As a Regional Director, you may be responsible for communicating with a variety of individuals, including front line leaders and staff, customers both local leaders and key operational positions, regulatory and Airport staff. Effective communication can help you to convey information clearly and to understand the needs of others.
Organization: You must have strong organizational skills, allowing you to manage multiple projects at once. Ability to manage a operational recovery plan. Strong organizational skills will help complete tasks on time and ensure you have the information required to complete their work.
Time management: Time management is another skill that the Regional Director uses to complete their duties. They often have multiple tasks to complete in a day, so they need to prioritize their work and manage their time wisely. For example, Regional Directors may need to schedule meetings, make phone calls, send emails, and complete other tasks throughout the day.
