Drivers Assistant
Summary
As a Drivers Assistant you work independently moving gate to gate to guide catering trucks into position and out of position. Drivers Assistant plays a crucial role in directing ground traffic at airports to ensure safety and efficiency. They use hand signals to communicate with drivers, guiding them through complex taxiways, parking areas, and loading zones finally into catering position. This coordination is essential in preventing accidents and keeping airport operations running smoothly. This position requires working in a safety focused, fast paced environment with time constraints to meet arrival and departure goals. A uniformed, professional and positive image must be consistently displayed by the employee.
Job Duties

Guide drivers to maneuver trucks safely around obstacles, other vehicles, and pedestrians.

Ensure trucks are parked in compliance with established safety regulations and parking protocols at the airport.

Assist drivers in aligning trucks accurately with spaces or loading/unloading zones around aircraft.

Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse personnel, or supervisors to coordinate driving/parking activities and resolve any issues or concerns.

Monitor and report any hazards or safety concerns on the ramp area, including foreign object debris (FOD) and equipment malfunctions & actively participates in the Safety Management System (SMS).

Understand and comply with Transport Canada requirements.

Responsible for maintaining safety and security of the ramp and warehouse at all times.

Comply with all Sky Café and airline policies

Constantly communicate with other catering personnel, and respective airline communication centers if applicable

Coordination and oversight of aircraft turnaround activities

Responsible for safety and security of all employees

Performs other duties as required
Requirements
-
Safety experience an asset
-
Be at least 18 years of age
-
Possess a valid driver’s license
-
Clean drivers abstract with no demerits
-
Ability to work on a permanent basis in Canada
-
Obtain a clear criminal record
-
Ability to obtain necessary airport and/or Transport Canada security clearances
-
Ability to obtain necessary airport vehicle operators permit
-
Must be capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 70lbs on a regular basis
-
Ability to work within the required time parameters
-
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and varying schedules
-
Must successfully complete airline specific training programs and recertification
-
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Airside Vehicle Operator Permit is an asset or have the ability to obtain an AVOP in a timely manner
