Savage in Hayden Colorado is looking for a Coal Handling Operator II (Team Lead). You will be responsible for safely and efficiently handling bulk coal material around the facility including: manage a coal crew, unloading locomotive cars, operate and monitoring the coal handling systems, operating equipment to manage the reclaim coal pile.

What you'll be doing: 

• Lead the coal team in daily and long-term tasks, coordinating with leadership and plant personnel to maintain coal levels and meet KPI targets
• Operate conveyor systems, dozer/loaders, water trucks, and locomotives; manage train unloading, railcar door closure, and train car switching (training required)
• Perform inspections, diagnose conveyor issues, and manage repairs independently; utilize CMMS for work order tracking
• Ensure safety and compliance with training in relevant areas, including Safety Specialist and respirator use; assist in crew training and project leadership
• Perform occasional lifting (0-50 lbs.), work at heights, climb stairs, and complete welding tasks if needed
• Additional tasks as assigned by supervisors

What you'll need: 

• Supervisor/Lead Experience preferred
• Mechanically inclined and able to perform some basic equipment maintenance
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to attend and pass all training associated with job related coursework
• Ability to work 10 hour schedule, Wed-Sat, Holidays as required
• Clear drug / alcohol test / criminal background check 
• Experience in the Rail Industry and/or yellow equipment experience is preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Savage is a Military Friendly Employer - Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus
• A high school diploma, or equivalent

Physical Requirements of this role:

• Lifts approximately 0-50 lbs. Occasionally
• Lifts approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly
• Climbs stairs and work at various heights
• Wear required PPE
• work in an environment containing coal dust
• Work exposed in the elements in hot or cold environments
