Department: Powders Processing (Shift 7p-7a)
Reports To: Processing Supervisor
Job Summary:
-
Process Operator is responsible for assisting the Control Room Operator (CRO) in the operations of all Powders processing lines. The operator’s main responsibility is to manage all field operations for the department.
Essential Functions:
-
Troubleshoots and corrects operating problems discovered during on routine tours or under the direction of CRO.

Perform operations involving the use or transfer of strong corrosive acid and have a strong understanding of the safety implications
-
Unplug chutes, pipes, tanks and the like as needed
-
Makes formal inspections and fills out check sheets on line equipment.

Understands and abides by Powders QMS (Quality Management System)

Understands processing specifications and collects and analyzes samples per the requirements including data entry.

Performs routine cleaning activities in the field.

Moves materials, such as solid acid, within the plant using a forklift.

Unloads bulk rail cars
-
Under the direction of CRO, starts and stops equipment from the field.

Provides short-term relief to the operator and monitors the process from the control room during these periods of time
-
Understands safety rules and can successfully lock out equipment from the field.

Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned.

Participate in improvement activities.
Experience:
-
Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.
-
Must possess basic mechanical skills such as but not limited to: use of hand tools, tape measure, caulking gun, etc.
-
Must be able to read and visually monitor electronic equipment, and control panels including interpretation of data for action.

Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.

Must understand all safety requirements and other communications.

Must have solid communication skills
-
Must have basic computer skills and can open programs, navigate the network; enter information electronically, and save electronic forms on the network.

Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift
-
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
-
Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently
-
Must be able to climb ladders up to 100 feet
-
Must be able to communicate by radio
-
Must be able to participate in cleanup activities up to full shift duration.

Must be able to work shifts
-
Must be able to wear dust mask and hearing protection.
-
Must be able to work in dusty, hot, cold and humid environments
-
Must meet all physical requirements of the position.
Hire Rate: $21.23
