GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Responsible for operating honing machines to hone internal or external surfaces of metal parts.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Setup machine as required by drawing specifications.
  • Determine product dimensions, tooling, and to plan operational sequence by studying work orders, or machining instructions.
  • Make changes to machine operation when necessary.
  • Select tooling to be used in machine operation, utilizing knowledge of machine and production requirements.
  • Thread and hand feed materials through machine cutters or abraders.
  • Inspect or measure product through the use of measuring instruments to ensure conformance.
  • Hone parts to prescribed dimensions.
  • Follow the company Health and Safety Policy and practice safe working habits, industrial hygiene and good housekeeping around benches and machines.
  • All other duties as assigned

DIMENSIONS:

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required.
  • Ability to setup honing equipment.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance.
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
