MPS is seeking a talented Composite Engineer focusing on the design and manufacturing of pultrusion lines and Product Design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in composite materials, particularly in pultrusion processes, and will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
What You’ll Do
- Design and Development: Create and optimize designs for pultrusion lines, including tooling, machinery layouts, and process parameters. This will be a mix of Process and Product Design with Innovation at the forefront for this position.
- Material Selection: Analyze and select appropriate composite materials for various applications, considering factors such as mechanical properties, cost, and manufacturability.
- Process Engineering: Develop and refine pultrusion processes to ensure consistent product quality and high production rates.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct experiments and testing on pultruded products to validate designs and ensure they meet performance specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and R&D, to implement design changes and improve processes.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to the pultrusion process, equipment, and product quality.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of design processes, specifications, and test results for compliance and future reference.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions while maintaining product integrity and quality.
Market Research and Analysis
- Conduct in-depth market research to understand customer needs, market opportunities, and competitive dynamics.
- Analyze data to identify emerging trends and ensure the product stays relevant in a rapidly changing market.
- Monitor industry developments and regulatory changes that may affect the product's marketability.
What You’ll Need to Excel in This Role
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Composite Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Composite Engineering degree or Minimum of [10] years of experience in composite engineering, with a focus on pultrusion processes preferred.
- Strong understanding of composite materials and their properties.
- Experience with CAD software and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- MS Office proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or willingness for continuing education
- Experience with automation and control systems in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety protocols related to composite manufacturing.
