Field Service Operations - Commissioning Engineer
Summary: Responsibilities are planning and coordinating the onsite commissioning activities and integrating customer’s requirements in an effort to safeguard the company’s commercial position.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Initiates the commercial operation of large turbo-machinery and associated equipment installed in the U.S.A, Canada and Mexico and renders specific customer support services.
- Coordinates and supervises the initial startup of our turbo-compressor trains or generator sets.
- Performs training sessions at our customer’s plant and/or facilities in order to instruct the users on how to operate and maintain our machines.
- Coordinates and supervises the field testing of our turbo-machinery equipment.
- Assists in the preparation of work-scopes for any repair work, overhauls and re-rating that may be requested by our customers.
- Trouble shoots and resolves the technical problems involving compressor anti-surge controls, speed controls and any other system, such as vibration monitoring associated with our machinery.
- Provides job-site training and in-house training for other Commissioning Engineers on local staff or within North American region.
- Provides routine technical assistance on a day to day basis to our customers.
- Provides support for new equipment sales and project management teams such as technical advice and/or Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of any sub supplied component such as control systems, etc.
- Interfaces with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Mechanical engineers, Service Engineers and Technicians to help develop formalized proposals.
- Liaisons with project engineering and other departments as required to obtain a full technical and commercial briefing prior to traveling to the site.
- Implements approved design changes modifications that may be required to bring the product up to specification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university; or ten or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
The incumbent should have experience in a rotating equipment or manufacturing environment. Commissioning Engineer should have at least ten (10) years’ experience in the field or in a related area.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak and write in English is required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Extended knowledge of rotating equipment.
- Extended factory experience and training on the specifics of our compressors, steam turbines, screw compressors and expanders.

Physical Requirements:
The majority of the time of this position requires being in one place for several hours to hold and maneuver parts and/or equipment. Reaching with hands and arms to maneuver parts and/or equipment. Accessing platforms to handle or maneuver parts and/or equipment. This position mostly uses close vision (clear vision at 5 feet or less). Able to lift 50 pounds. May be required to assist with field service jobs which would involve climbing, walking, crawling, long periods of time standing or working in small spaces. May be required to work in adverse working environment including but not limited to intense heat, cold, windy, dusty and dirty conditions. This position also deals with loud noise (grinders, drills, hammers, etc.). This position also requires sitting in one place for several hours and using hands and fingers to type on a keyboard, click and maneuver a mouse.
Travel Required (at least 90%) to various unanticipated locations.
