SWISS MACHINE OPERATOR II-Day Shift
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for planning and verifying materials to be used, operating all required machines and equipment, interpreting complex blueprints and drawings, inspecting completed parts, using material handling equipment and completing required documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and verify materials to be used and operations to be performed on each job.
2. Operate all required machines and equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders and boring machines in order to produce high quality parts.
3. Interpret complex blueprints and drawings and follow manufacturing processes and procedures.
4. Inspect completed parts to ensure conformance to quality specifications, using gauges, microscopes and other measuring tools as required. Follow procedures as needed to address non-conformities.
5 Use material handling equipment to move materials and parts throughout the shop.
6. Complete required documentation for all jobs responsible for.
7. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• A related machine trades certificate/diploma and one year relevant experience, OR, two years relevant experience.
• Intermediate ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Experience with machine tooling and measuring tools.
• Basic experience programming CNC machines.
• Experience using material handling equipment, including hoists.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.

Physical Demands
• Strength, agility and movement: Work involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and handling of materials and parts, from racks, pallets or baskets. Occasionally requires crouching or stooping when cleaning around work area. Travel within the facility to move material is occasional.
• Level of exertion: Work ranges between medium and heavy consisting of occasional exertion and of up to 50 pounds of force and movement of up to 20 pounds frequently. Work requires repetitive hand motions and frequent grasping of tools and materials.
• Sensory ability: Good vision is required, particularly near vision for inspection of tooling, components and reading measuring devices. Field of vision needs to be sufficient to work safely around machines. Depth perception and hand-eye coordination need to be sufficient for tool insertion, machine set-up and computer operation. Good hearing is required to monitor machine sounds.
Mental Requirements
• Reading: The ability to read instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings and specification sheets is required.
• Writing: Writing skills at a level consistent with preparing documentation and signing off on work performed is required.
• Verbal skills: Verbal communication needs to be at a level consistent with providing explanations on technical matters such as when instructing others in the operation of a machine.
• Reasoning ability: Reasoning ability needs to be at a level consistent with solving apparent problems through probing, inquiry or research for precise identification. Solutions are based on standard operating procedures or well established precedent.
Working Conditions
• Eye protection is required at all times.
• Exposure to moving parts, equipment and coolants.
• Occasional exposure to loud noise requiring hearing protection
• Occasional exposure to fumes requiring respiratory protection.
Compensation and Benefits Overview
Starting Pay Range for this position is $22.00-$26.00/hour
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range. Actual pay rates are determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, local labor market conditions, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language proficiency, and other job-specific qualifications.
