SUMMARY
The Maintenance Mechanic III will diagnose, disassemble, rebuild and align precision machine tools and equipment. The type of equipment includes but is not limited to Takisawas, Hyundais, Stars, DMG Moris, Nakamura Tomes, Jets and ancillary equipment. Lubricates machinery, changes parts, or performs other routine repairs and/or maintenance to complex machinery. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and occasional facilities maintenance. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Utilizes work orders to indicate necessary maintenance repair. 

•    Performs preventive maintenance on physical structures, including machines, associated equipment, and/or oil separators and mop water containers to comply with company safety policies and procedures and manufacturer suggested services procedures.

•    Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.

•    Attends all required job-related training (internal and external). 

•    Responsible for rebuilding complex machinery by removing and reinstalling spindle drives, pickoff units and other gear driven mechanisms. 

•    Clears all spills (water, oil, and other liquids) and disposing in appropriate locations in order to comply with company safety policies and procedures.

•    Surveys, clears and cleans the Oil Containment yard and the plant’s air compressor areas.

•    Use fork-lift to move equipment, oil drums, mop water and waste metals containers.

•    Uses hand tools, power hand tools and voltage meters.

•    Performs functional tests of machines and equipment such as engine lathes, mill machines, single and twin spindle CNC, tapping machines, paint booth, ovens and ancillary equipment to determine nature and cause of malfunction.  

•    Ensures rebuilt machines will satisfactorily comply with functional requirements.

•    Welding within the company safety guidelines and procedures.

•    Assist team members, when necessary, on breakdowns and when servicing equipment.

•    Assists in all areas by moving machinery.

•    Responsible for the complete rebuilding of precision machine tools and equipment. Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.

•    Determines methods to use in tear down, rework, alignment or renewal, assembly and functional test of machine tools.

•    Determines and performs precision measurements to achieve alignment required between all functional planes.

•    Determines re-machining or rebuilding required for worn parts. Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.

•    Modifies existing machinery and equipment to facilitate new production techniques under the direction of the engineering department.  Installs and rigs machinery, breaks down, levels and checks out according to manufacturers specifications.

•    Utilize tooling shop lathes and mills.

•    Follow all department and company measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. 

•    Employee responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.

•    Employee responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times. 

•    Employee required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.

•    Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

•    Other duties may be assigned. 

•    Ability to perform turret and spindle alignments on Horizontal Turning Centers CNC lathes.

•    Ability to troubleshoot and identify machines malfunctions.

o    Mechanical – bearings, mechanical power transmission, chain drives, belt drives, gear drives, couplings, mechanical fasteners, packing and seals, pumps, conveyors, pipe fittings and valves, steam lines and traps.  Ability to perform a variety of machine shop equipment, including hand and power tools.
o    Hydraulic/Pneumatic – principles of hydraulic and pneumatic power, hydraulic fluids, piping and sealing, reservoirs, actuators, directional controls, servo valves, pressure controls, volume controls, pumps, motors, air compressors, etc. 
o    Electrical – basic knowledge to lock and tag out equipment for repair. 
o    Welding- all types of welding. (optional)
o    Forklift operation- safety and handling. (recommended)
o    Oil and Filtration. Types and safety.
o    Metal scraping and waste disposal. Types and safety.
o    Design and fabrication- ability to improvise new solutions to special cases.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  
This position has minimal supervisory responsibility.
May assist in the coaching and process teaching of trainees or less experience personnel under the supervision of management.  

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIRMENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience    
•    High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance or general construction trades required or equivalent work experience

•    Minimum of 5 years of related manufacturing experience or general construction trades and/or training; advanced hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with PLC.

•    Ability to read, interpret manufacturers drawings, blueprints and written instructions.

•    Familiarity with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have ability top learn Work Order program and Word Processing software.

Language Skills   
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to speak and present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills   
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability   
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
