Your Opportunity:

The Herff Jones Greek Sales Team is looking for aNationalAccount Manager to join our HJ Family.

 

Position Summary:  This non commission national account manager position is responsible for the account management of customers specifically within the Greek letter organization market segments:  NPC market (National Panhellenic Conference/sorority) customers, NPHC market (National Pan-Hellenic Conference/Divine Nine), NIC market (North American Interfraternity Conference/fraternity) customers, PFA (Professional Fraternity Association) market and ACHS (Association of College Honor Society) market as well as other GLO market segments, by handling all aspects of customer’s official jewelry program, and graduation, and ceremony regalia as requested. 

This account manager position will include working directly with customers at all levels, HJ operations management personnel, HJ digital marketing, and creative departments to ensure customers’ complete satisfaction in quality, products, delivery, and service. In this role you will have regular interaction with key decision makers within customer’s organization and within HJ leadership.

 

What we want you to accomplish:

The National Account Manager role will manage the business to client relationship with specific customers. You will keep a focus on the specific requirements of the customer with sales retention and penetration. You will need to plan and explain how the company can meet those needs.

Daily displays of working in a fashion that adheres to the company values:

  • 30 days - display an eagerness to learn the role and prove themselves dependable.
  • 60+ days - gain an understanding of the daily tasks and operational aspects of how the account manager role fits into the overall college division, Warwick jewelry operations, Cap and Gown plants; establish priorities, introduction to customers. Attend trade shows and selling events.
  • 90+ days - independently service, sell to and manage the first assigned allotment of Greek letter customers. Attend trade shows and selling events.

Core Objectives:   

  • Sales Retention of core assigned established “book of business” of approximately 40 accounts, of which annual sales are $5.3M +
    • Achieve 98% renewal of customer contracts expiring within calendar year.
  • Sales Penetration within same established “book of business” accounts by increasing sales annually by 3%-3.5%+
      • Represent HJ at customers’ selling events with target goal of increasing sales 5% YOY.
      • Communicate pricing updates within customer contractual guidelines and HJ guidelines.
      • Develop and execute increase sales revenue within the non-official jewelry program sales.
  • Sales Acquisition of additional customers with various membership levels resulting in increased sales revenue combined annually of $50K+.
    • Establish sales criteria for smaller GLO (Greek Letter Organizations) membership organizations.

Core Activities:

  • Establish positive customer relationships at all levels of account’s vertical hierarchy.
  • Represent Herff Jones at trade shows, college customer events as needed, and Greek customer’s conventions which are on site selling events. 
  • Execute on all official/discretionary jewelry programs from inception to completion of final product resulting in sales of the product. 
  • Proactively collaborate with customer on critical convention jewelry requirements and adhere to operations deadlines. 
  • Develop and execute on customer’s selling events from pre-convention inventory sales order, milestone and convention event products, marketing, sponsorship activities to on-site inventory/display/overall look adhering to HJ branding guidelines. 
  • Understand the competitive landscape and utilize an ambitious spirit to find ways to sell additional products and value-added solutions to customers.
  • Continually review HJ Greek website and update accordingly making continuous improvements and product changes.
  • Review and summarize all company absorbed expenses for budget and program/sponsorship/contractual compliance.
  • Review and summarize customer’s sales by product category and make recommendations to customer and manager. Semi-annual requirement.
  • Team effort in “covering” Greek accounts on as needed basis. 

 Success Indicators:

  • Ability to confidently manage assigned customer’s official jewelry program and non-official jewelry program and provide programs to customers.
  • Ability to sell new products, programs, and enhancements to established “book of business” within core customer base.
  • Strong ability to conceptualize, strategize, and think creatively.
  • Independently manage assigned customers with little supervision but knowing when to ask for manager’s assistance when needed.
  • Independently travel and represent Herff Jones at customer selling events-on site selling directly to members of organizations. 
  • Develop initiative-taking, positive professional relationships to ensure a successful HJ partnership with customers. 
  • Manage challenging customer demands with professionalism with proper and complete follow-through.
  • Commitment to becoming a subject matter expert in official jewelry programs and graduation regalia/ceremony products.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and control processes for desired outcomes.
  • Team spirit required.

 

Education / Certifications Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field of study.
  • Retail jewelry sales and/or account manager experience a plus.
  • Trade show/event experience desired but not required.
  • Documented sales or inside sales experience, or Account Management experience.
  • Position requires frequent travel throughout year to visit customers attend trade shows, and divisional meetings and presentation as requested. Approximately  25% of time.
  • Position requires extensive travel in summer months of June, July, and August (summer selling events conventions). Up to 60% of time and weekends.
  • Greek (fraternity/sorority) life experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual Dexterity: Good Hand-Eye Coordination.
  • Must be able to sit & stand for extended periods of time during selling events.
  • Ability to move throughout the office and production areas frequently during the day.
