The Clinic Assistant, under the direction of designated staff, provides administrative support and operational assistance in support of quality patient care in the ambulatory setting. The Clinic Assistant works as part of a team and performs both clinical and administrative duties. Clinical duties include sterilizing medical instruments, and stocking and cleaning clinical workspaces and medical equipment, as directed by a provider or designee. Administrative duties include printing letters, making copies, sending faxes, preparing pamphlets and stuffing packets. Work is performed under the general direction, guidance, and supervision of the RN Team Coordinator with oversight from the Clinic Manager.

 

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Some medical training is desirable but not required.
  3. Employee is expected to provide personal transportation. Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle.   
  4. Previous relevant experience working in a clinic or ambulatory setting is desirable.
  5. Knowledge of and ability to perform or learn standard clinical sterilization, cleaning, and stocking procedures according to established protocols and policies.
  6. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn how to properly use and maintain equipment, materials, and supplies used during the course of treatment is required.
  7. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer-based applications such as MS Office.
  8. Knowledge of or ability to learn basic medical terminology is required.
  9. Ability to maintain quality, safety and /or infection control standards is required.
  10. Ability to recognize, identify and report problems to appropriate personnel is required.
  11. Knowledge of inventory management practices is required.
  12. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  13. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be culturally sensitive and to work with a diverse patient population.
  14. Ability to maintain good working relationship with patients and staff is required.
  15. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality is required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
  16. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally is required. Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time is required.
