RN - Per Diem
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Per Diem provides patient education, telephone triage, and RN assistance. This incumbent also assesses patient needs, fulfills team patient care needs, acts as a resource to team patient care staff, and participates in departmental support functions. The incumbent is regularly exposed to blood borne pathogens, diseases, and cleaning/sterilization solutions. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager. Practitioner staff may delegate activities to a Registered Nurse that are within the RN scope of practice.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications
- Valid license to practice in the State of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse.
- Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license; or ability to travel to various work sites. Employee is expected to provide personal transportation.
- Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required. Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
- Knowledge of scientific nursing principles as a basis for quality decision-making ability required.
- Ability to perform a variety of clinical skills which may include but is not limited to IV therapy, injections and wound care. Ability to assist in procedures performed in clinic.
- Current knowledge of and maintenance of nursing trends, techniques and certifications required.
- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care, treatments and follow-up.
- Excellent verbal communication and listening skills both in-person and on the phone required.
- Excellent assessment skills required. Ability to prioritize changing patient conditions required.
- Knowledge of interviewing practices and techniques used in order to gather information.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety and /or infection control standards.
- Excellent customer service skills required. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with a diverse patient population.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer-based applications such as MS Office, electronic medical record systems and scheduling applications. Experience with EPIC is desirable. Must type a minimum of 30 WPM with minimal errors.
- Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements.
- Basic understanding or ability to learn about reimbursement/insurance practices for medical care.
- Ability to maintain good working relationship with patients and staff required.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to work as member of a team and maintain good working relationships with staff and patients required.
- Good organizational skills in the delivery of clinical care required.
- Ability to remain calm and be resourceful in emergency situations required.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel and crouch required. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally required. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time required.
- Ability to talk (speak clearly), hear (conversation), see (corrected vision for near and far sight, color vision, and depth perception) on a frequent basis required.
- Ability to continuously stand and transport, and with occasional sitting required.
