OSP Construction Project Engineer ( Charlotte County - Port Charlotte, FL )
Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Construction Project Engineer! Our OSP Construction Project Engineers build relationships with subcontractor partners and their teams to facilitate the construction and installation of an Outside Plant (OSP) network within a specified market area. Lumos’s critical infrastructure builds encompass poles, areal, buried, and underground fiber facilities. In order to be successful, our OSP Construction Project Engineers must reside within commutable distance of their assigned market worksites, as their presence at the worksite on a regular basis is necessary for the builds to be successful and for the OSP Construction Project Engineer to accomplish their important work. Has direct accountability for overseeing line-crews, splicers, and subcontractor crews while ensuring all assigned OSP Construction projects are completed safely and on time, in alignment with CAPEX budget parameters across multiple concurrent projects within the assigned market.
*** This position is 90% in the field focused on Charlotte County, FL. Successful candidates must already be in-market or within reasonable commuting distance. Regular overnight travel (with company vehicle) to be onsite a number of days each week is acceptable and encouraged.***

Essential Functions
- Builds and maintains relationships with local subcontractor and other partners to manage OSP crews’ activity, accomplishing required work safely, on time, and within budget.
- Regularly tracks progress of crews and reports to necessary internal teams, picking up whatever is required and delivering critical information to ensure leadership understands the exact progression of job completion at any given time.
- Partners with and monitors OSP subcontractor crews to drive a safety culture at worksites.
- Ensures OSP subcontractor crews meet NESC code for aerial construction.
- Partners with internal Lumos teams on materials forecasting, scheduling, and other activities.
- Coordinates with internal and external teams on all permit needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and influencing skills.
- Proven project management experience, able to effectively manage multiple projects across a geographic area by travelling, working onsite, and remotely when possible.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA rules, site safety, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and associated construction and telecommunications federal and local regulations.
- Must work independently and effectively, collaborating professionally and respectfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Must exhibit honesty, integrity, and courtesy in all interactions.
- Possesses strong work ethic in supporting customer needs, responding promptly and consistently; exhibits appropriate sense of urgency based on deadlines and competing priorities.
Other Experience & Requirements
- 5+ years’ technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proactive, independent, and ability to take initiative to keep on-task and on-target.
- Fiber or Telecom industry experience essential.
