Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures in Azure and Databricks environments. This role will drive data strategy, optimize data workflows, and ensure governance while collaborating with stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, cloud platforms, and DevOps, along with a passion for mentoring and leading technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Strategy:

  • Design and maintain scalable and secure data architectures in Azure (Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse) and Databricks.
  • Establish best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and provisioning to enable advanced analytics.

Mentorship & Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor data engineers and junior architects, conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.

Technical Leadership:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
  • Lead the end-to-end architecture for new data-driven solutions and platform enhancements.

DevOps & CI/CD Implementation:

  • Implement and manage DevOps best practices for version control, testing, and deployment of data pipelines.
  • Automate and optimize builds, deployments, and monitoring using tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

Security & Compliance:

  • Enforce data security standards, including data masking and role-based access controls (RBAC).
  • Collaborate with InfoSec teams to align security policies with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to design and implement scalable data solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision-making, promoting strategic investments in modern data technologies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Expertise in Databricks, Spark (PySpark, Spark SQL), and Azure Data Lake architectures.
  • Strong proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Key Vault, and Synapse.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling (dimensional, relational, NoSQL), data governance, and data security best practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or other scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to mentor and develop teams.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, agile environments with a problem-solving mindset.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing large-scale solutions in Azure (Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Databricks).
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location.  We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
