Application Engineer

Summary:  The Application Engineer is responsible for inside sales support for customers and salesmen, order entry, order acknowledgements, project submittals, deliveries, pump quotes and technical support.

Functions and Responsibilities:  

• Manage complex, discrete and/or sensitive projects to ensure smooth delivery to the internal or external customer
• Write quotes to customers
• Complete project assignments, as directed, within allotted time frames
• Receive customer phone and email inquires
• Provide general support to outside sales team
• Communicate with the Accounting team to resolve issues regarding invoicing, deliveries, and shipping
• Any other relevant job duties that may be assigned

Desired Education and Experience:

• Minimum: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and or prior experience in the pump industry.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps and air compressors) is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

• Solid computer skills including proficiency with CAD, spreadsheet and database applications
• Must possess the ability to think and solve problems with creative understanding.  Must have a good eye for detail and be able to suggest process/specification modifications as required
• Ability to organize and prioritize jobs
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Specification and mechanical drawing interpretation
• Must understand pumps, air compressors and related processes
• Strong organizational abilities and project management skills
• The ability to work cooperatively with peers to achieve organizational goals
• High degree of independence, self-motivation and self-direction, especially with regard to identifying and managing high priority projects, in a fast-paced environment

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Sitting (Working at a desk) - up to 80%
• Standing – up to 30%
• Walking - up to 30%
• Lifting - up to 25 lbs. with good body mechanics (lifting devices are used for heavier loads)
• Moderate deviations of the wrists
• 1-960 hand or wrist repetitions/day
• Word processing (use of computer keyboard)
• Moderate use of both hands
• Very accurate near vision (20/20); accurate far vision (20/40)
