The Vice President of Procurement and Supply Chain is responsible for defining and leading Procurement and Supply Chain strategies throughout the Americas. This visionary leader will oversee the strategic and operational management of procurement, inventory, production, distribution, and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the regional strategies are aligned with those at Global Procurement level in setting business objectives, driving cost efficiencies, ensuring Compliance, and managing supplier relationships across the regional landscape.
  • Oversee distribution and logistics to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Within Supply Chain organization and following Global Supply Chain guidance, monitors and manage inventory levels to minimize stock-outs
  • Lead efforts to streamline warehousing and distribution functions for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Oversee the Local Demand Planning function to ensure alignment between supply and customer demand to avoid local stockouts and keeping  proper inventory levels.

 

Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain structured and strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiate supply contracts and agreements to secure advantageous terms.
  • Assess supplier performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and Company policies.
  • The above includes the functional reporting of the Supply Chain & Procurement functions at the subsidiaries in the region to ensure their alignment with such operating model.

 

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee Procurement operations ensuring processes are efficient, transparent, and scalable.
  • Implement best practices for Procurement cycles, vendor qualification, vendor rating, risk management, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory levels and reduce waste.
  • Analyses the prices of materials and services offered by suppliers. This may include comparing production costs, shipping expenses, and payment terms to obtain a clear picture of the expected Total cost of Ownership.
  • Foster the adoption of eSourcing Tools across the region, with a primary focus on Indirect Spend management.

 

Spend Management:

  • Define projected purchasing costs supporting the internal stakeholders for the Budget and the Strategic Planning processes, tracking and explaining the main drivers of any relevant price variances.
  • Prepare, in alignment with Global Procurement and Global Supply chain, a structured reporting system which includes graphical analyses, significant data, and any recommendations to optimize procurement, to be submitted on a monthly basis (Actuals vs Budget) or as required for other deadlines (i.e.: long term planning).
  • Ensure that the Company’s spend analytics tools are duly updated and provide periodic evaluations of the spend process (i.e., spend without purchase orders nor contract), including a specific report for logistic costs.

 

Strategic Leadership:

  • Take the lead for introducing a new set of Procedures, Guidelines and processes to assigned business units under the guidance of Global Procurement & Global Supply Chain. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Procurement strategies as per Global Procurement guidance and aligned with Company objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize service level improving customer satisfaction, fostering costs reduction and enhancing the value to the Company, without compromising Quality and Compliance.

 

Team Development:

  • Design and establish a Procurement Function for Bracco Diagnostics, Inc. (BDI)
  • Take the lead of the existing Supply Chain Function at BDI
  • Support and mentor the Supply Chain & Procurement teams across the North America to harmonize the operating model and improve the compliance across the region.
  • Foster a collaborative and agile working environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement aimed to improve the performance in procuring goods and services.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as a strategic partner to key departments such as R&D, Quality Assurance, ensuring alignment of Supply Chain and Procurement activities with broader organizational goals.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental communication to address challenges, leveraging cross-functional insights to drive process improvements and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor teams in adopting collaborative tools and methodologies that enhance transparency, data sharing, and integration across functions, ensuring consistent and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as a liaison between regional and global teams, ensuring that local needs are represented while adhering to corporate guidelines and standards.
  • Champion company-wide initiatives related to sustainability, ensuring that procurement and supply chain practices support environmental goals and align with corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards.

 

Professional Experience, Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Minimum of 10+ years in Procurement and Supply Chain, preferably within the healthcare or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Experience with complex categories such as services, marketing, and materials is essential.
  • Excellent negotiation and financial management abilities.
  • Proven leadership in building collaborative teams and adopting procurement software.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations (e.g., GMP, ISO).
  • Education: Degree in technical or scientific disciplines.
  • Excellent English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and planning methodologies.
