Trainer and Technical Support

Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Trainer and Technical Support. This individual is responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs for service department technicians and other employees within the organization. This role ensures that personnel are equipped with the technical knowledge and skills needed to support the repair, maintenance, and operation of equipment sold and serviced by the company. The trainer works closely with the Technical Training Department and other business units to develop effective, up-to-date, and impactful training programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Training Delivery: Conduct instructor-led, hands-on, and virtual training sessions for technicians and other employees across service, parts, and sales departments.
  • Curriculum Development: Create and maintain training materials, including course outlines, manuals, and multimedia presentations, to address technical skill requirements.
  • Technical Support Knowledge Sharing: Train personnel to utilize diagnostic tools, OEM software, and technical resources effectively. Attending Help desk cases as an Agent for the CE group. Support technicians with technical matters, in person or remote.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Develop testing tools to evaluate trainee progress and program effectiveness. Provide feedback to both trainees and supervisors.
  • Collaboration: Partner with OEMs and internal stakeholders to integrate the latest technical updates and product innovations into training content.
  • Safety Training: Deliver safety-related training, ensuring employees understand equipment handling and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Travel: Deliver on-site training at various company locations across the U.S. and Canada as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical certification or degree in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment technology (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the heavy equipment industry or a related technical training role.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and instructional design skills.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and train on OEM proprietary software and diagnostic equipment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with LMS platforms and OEM diagnostic software.
