Product Manager
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing proprietary IT applications or portfolio of proprietary applications throughout their lifecycles. Uses strong knowledge of both business and technology to drive solutions that align with IT and business objectives. Acts as a customer and end user advocate for the application(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages business applications throughout the application lifecycle from initial development through ongoing enhancement;
- Participates in strategic planning for application, proactively identifying changes in business and technology landscape that would impact application;
- Ensures large scale adoption by facilitating and managing communication, whereas there is significant interaction with clients;
- Gathers, discusses, documents, and prioritizes user feedback and business unit conversations related to the application;
- Discusses and evaluates user feedback regularly with project and development managers;
- Translates all feedback into requirements for future enhancements of application that align with vision for application;
- Establishes, promotes, conducts and maintains user groups consisting of external and internal end users;
- Evaluates external and internal challenges and provides actions and follow-up to ensure positive relationships and adoption of application;
- Develops and maintains an appropriate communication mechanism to disseminate information to end users related to outages, upgrades, policy, or other changes;
- Coordinates and may conduct training sessions to help individual users or groups;
- Gathers empirical metrics detailing system utilization and performance;
- Conducts regular security reviews and provides audit and usage information to IT department and related business units;
- Provides demonstrations and assists in technical troubleshooting;
- Builds and maintains strong business relationships with all levels of staff and management;
- Works closely with business and development teams to ensure application processes are supported through application development;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree (ideally in Communications or Business) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Four (4) or more years of related work experience
SKILLS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good leadership, problem solving and time management skills
Understanding of Agile development methodology
Ability to work within a team and to work independently
Ability to interface with executives – internal and external
Genuine interest to advocate and communicate the needs of internal customers
Ability to clearly understand business processes in order to communicate them to software developers
Strong presentation skills
General Microsoft Office products experience in Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel
