Accounting Associate
SUMMARY
Assists with various accounting duties within the Accounting Department, including but not limited to, accounts payable tasks, accounts receivable tasks, and other tasks/projects that may arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed to learn and perform those duties.
- Assist other accountants with monthly accounting tasks and/or projects.
- Cross-train with other department personnel in order to serve as a back-up for acquisition support within the accounting function.
- Assist with on-boarding and integration of newly acquired companies as needed.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks.
- Review and download employee expense reports; communicate with customers and vendors as needed.
- Process all invoices into the computer system.
- Maintain and reconcile company credit card accounts.
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality with any information, especially when communicating with officers and senior managers within the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Associate's Degree in Accounting or another related field
Two (2) or more years of experience with accounting tasks
One (1) or more years of experience in the insurance industry or another related field
SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Basic knowledge of accounting terms
General knowledge of accounting principles
Good attention to detail
Deadline oriented; ability to be flexible regarding work schedule
Ability to follow procedures and maintain consistency
Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
