Divisional Assistant Controller - Commercial Insurance
SUMMARY
Responsible for providing administrative support to the Divisional Finance management team. Key responsibilities include assisting management with reporting and analysis, tracking revenue, budgeting, and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in analyzing and interpreting financial results, comparing actual performance to prior periods, budgets, and forecasts;
• Tracks and monitors accounts receivable balances and self-insured cash accounts;
• Support process improvement efforts;
• Prepares timely, accurate, and relevant ad hoc and standard management reporting;
• Assist with preparing financial models to help analyze the impact of current and proposed company initiatives;
• Assists with the budgeting processes for assigned operating group(s). Maintains planning templates and reports, helps to construct revenue and expense plans, and identifies variances;
• Assists in analyzing large quantities of data and performs data reconciliations to ensure accuracy of work products. Identifies and interprets patterns and outliers in the data set;
• Supervise and train staff;
• Helps to maintain financial systems, databases, and queries used for analysis;
• Assists with special projects as assigned to support operational objectives;
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Seven (7) or more years of related work experience, with prior managerial experience
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Insurance related experience/background preferred
SKILLS
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and as a member of a team
Ability to interact professionally with employees across all levels of the organization
Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent assignments and complete work by required due dates
