SUMMARY 

Responsible for providing technical employee benefits related compliance guidance to external employee benefits clients and internal employee benefits staff. Required to prepare presentations, written summaries, checklists, white papers, and updates in a timely manner based on thorough review of new and existing legislation for distribution internally on AlliantNet and to clients. Provide consistent strategic support to Alliant Employee Benefits National Operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

•    Timely develops content addressing new compliance legislation on behalf of the national Compliance team for distribution internally and to clients in a straightforward, practical way; includes educational webinars, seminars, alerts, white papers, checklists, frequently asked questions (FAQs) etc.; includes review and ability to understand and summarize regulatory source material.

 

•    Partners with other members of the Compliance team to ensure Compliance portal content is current Partners with brokers, managing directors, and service teams on key accounts; includes attending meetings and participating in conference calls per established national Compliance engagement protocol.

 

•    Engages with local operational lead to assess local client compliance needs and account team training needs.

 

•    Contributes significantly in developing Compliance content for the national Compliance team, for client distribution and to educate staff on compliance issues that ensures competence.

 

•    Provides timely daily compliance question and answer support for local Alliant employee benefits practice based on regional or office assignments in a timely manner; ensures issues are triaged and addressed per established national Compliance engagement protocol.

 

•    Contributes in developing processes and a templates library to support client service teams, updating them as needed.

 

•    Participates in prospect meetings per established National Compliance engagement protocol to present Alliant Compliance capabilities.

 

•    Acts as a subject matter expert, presents at conferences, seminars, webinars, etc.

 

•    Other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Juris Doctor

Four (4) or more years of related work experience in the employee benefits and compliance areas.

Experience drafting white papers on benefits compliance issues and written legal analysis.

Experience in public speaking, including developing and delivering  benefits compliance training content

Active state bar license

 

SKILLS

Command of employee benefits laws and regulations that includes a practical understanding of how they relate to benefit program administration with specific knowledge of the ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA and Medicare

Understanding of regulatory agencies and rulemaking processes that can impact employee benefits

Basic understanding of leaves of absence and time off policy requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex topics in a practical way and provide practical answers to client questions

Excellent problem solving, organizational and prioritization skills

Ability to meet deadlines and timely deliver content in keeping with established processes

Ability to lead or take direction, as appropriate
