Accountant I
SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with the recording of journal entries and transaction analysis in support of the month-end Close for Alliant Insurance and its subsidiaries. Contributes to process improvement efforts and work proactively with business partners. Performs all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in the monthly closing process, including the preparation of routine journal entries and flux analysis for non-complex transactions.
• Prepares routine balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assists Accountants and Senior Accountants with transaction research.
• Supports financial statement consolidations.
• Supports quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit deliverables.
• Ad hoc requests as determined by management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Prior Accounting experience preferred
Insurance industry experience is preferred
SKILLS
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to multi-task
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Basic understanding of internal controls
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and activities and adapt to change
Ability to effectively collaborate with business partners
Possess knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and intermediate level skills with MS Excel
Exposure to ERP/Finance systems such as Applied EPIC, Kofax, Hyperion, PowerBI, Salesforce, Benefit Point, Blackline and Oracle is a plus
