SUMMARY

Partners with management and staff to provide high level consultative advice to optimize employee relations and support recruitment efforts. Serves as employee advocate and objectively investigates employee relations matters. Maintains strong knowledge of state and federal employment law, legislative changes, and legal trends as they impact Human Resources and the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Provides employee relations support for needs such as organizational development, performance management, coaching/counseling, and separations;

•    Investigates reported incidents, makes recommendations and conclusions;

•    Drafts responses when necessary and collaborates with legal counsel;

•    Manages decisions regarding background checks and ensures timely review for pre-hire purposes; serves as primary contact to third party vendor;

•    Provides HR support during acquisition integration;

•    Tracks and manages employee relations data for presentation and trend analysis purposes;

•    Reviews offers of employment for accuracy and to ensure pay equity across the company;

•    Provides consultation and support to other human resource team members administering leaves of absences;

•    Manages secondary stage of workers’ compensation which includes return to work program, report analysis, research claims, coordination with internal WC Reps and Leave Administration; employees, claims adjusters, and outside counsel;

•    Reviews employment contracts and partner with internal or external counsel as necessary;

•    High level understanding of Company benefits plans as it relates to employment separations, retirements, and leave of absences;

•    Responds to inquiries for outsourced unemployment administrator and attends appeals hearings;

•    Tracks and reports department employee relations metrics;

•    Partners with management on involuntary separations including risk assessments, appropriate approvals, and execution;

•    Assess business HR related training needs, collaborate with internal HR team to develop and deliver as needed;

•    Knowledge of Interactive process, ADA, etc.  Guide, document, and advise managers;

•    Mentors and collaborates with internal HR teams on complex issues;

•    Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Six (6) or more years of related work experience required; Six (6) or more years HR Generalist experience preferred.

SKILLS

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to easily communicate with members of senior management

Strong presentation skills

Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork

Good problem solving and time management skills

Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills

Ability to successfully mediate and resolve conflict

Proficient in Microsoft Office products

10-20% Travel may be required for training and other business needs
