Job Summary
Applies engineering coursework to support the development and execution of a variety of existing and new mechanical
engineering projects.


Essential Job Functions 

• Supports the design of parts and mechanisms for new and existing product development initiatives
• Details part drawings
• Supports Engineering Change Request process
• Creates mechanical designs using CAD software
• Designs tooling and fixtures to support the test of products
• With direction, works with Quality and Manufacturing staff to support the resolution of part quality issues
• Supports the test of new and existing products with test plans and occasional hands-on testing
• Uses calipers, measuring devices, and test equipment to perform work
• Qualifies parts and subsystems using measuring devices
• Presentation of Assigned Project at end-of-term to management.

Education & Experience
Student in Mechanical Engineering; junior level or higher. 3.0 GPA minimum.


Competencies – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• SolidWorks CAD experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
• Strong mechanical, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Good fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering design theory and practice
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and graphical)
• Willingness to work in all areas assigned as deemed necessary for the success of the team
• Ideally must be able to work a minimum of two internships
• Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time.
• Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Quantity - Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity.
• Safety - Observes all safety procedures and policies; reports potentially unsafe conditions to supervisor; uses equipment and
materials properly.

Work Environment

Office: Office setting. Seldom exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Loud working environment of the shop area. Functional vision and hearing required.

Physical Demands

Office: Sedentary.
