What is the opportunity?
The Living Water Officer, reporting to the Honduras Country Director, will provide strategic direction in implementing Water Mission's global evangelism and discipleship program strategy in Honduras. This role will bear witness to Christ and His kingdom by supporting and guiding spiritual formation activities for staff and other entities involved in the ministry. This full-time position will work out of Water Mission's office in El Progreso, Yoro.
A successful Living Water Officer must:
Leadership:
- Be a model of servant leadership in the workplace.
- Promote and fulfill Water Mission International's (WMI) Mission and Vision through words, actions, and initiatives.
- Work with staff to foster a God-honoring environment while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through words and deeds.
- Collaborate closely with the Living Water Coordinator on program planning and support promotion, as well as teaching when necessary.
Strategy and Implementation:
- Ensure that the Honduras program effectively partners with local churches in the field.
- Develop and recommend tools and strategies to the Living Water Coordinator for the spiritual development of staff in the country office.
- Gather necessary information for the growth of the evangelism and discipleship program.
- Recruit, train, and organize spiritual leaders, communities, and all required entities.
- Communicate respectfully and exemplarily in both internal and external MAI relationships.
Ministry Support:
- Serve as a spokesperson for Water Missions International (WMI) when needed, representing the ministry to other organizations and the public, in cooperation with other department leaders.
- Coordinate and establish links with external resources to advise, review, and evaluate field activities and content on sound practices, metrics, etc.
- Participate in conferences, workshops, and related events to learn and contribute to sound field practices.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Support the Living Water Coordinator and Program Manager in developing a strategy for church and community mobilization for spiritual and physical transformation.
- Assist the CED in evaluating local churches (Christian congregations) for sound doctrine in communities and help develop a strategy to mobilize stakeholders to play key roles in community programs.
- Motivate and equip communities to experience deeper faith and transformed lives.
- Complete a weekly work plan and a detailed monthly report on Living Water activities, reviewed and approved by the direct supervisor.
- Ensure all Water Mission International (WMI) quality standards are followed for all Living Water activities.
- Conduct field visits to support spiritual area evaluations.
- Prepare, coordinate, and lead meetings, spiritual retreats, and devotionals with staff to share the Word of God and cultivate authentic Christian community among staff.
- Collaborate with strategic partners to learn and share experiences from holistic mission projects and work with local churches.
- Train and facilitate training sessions for pastors and church leaders.
- Organize and implement other activities aimed at sharing the gospel in communities, such as fellowships, outdoor crusades, film screenings, and prayers in communities, hospitals, or schools.
- Resolve issues in communities that threaten the success of the project.
- Project reporting, including taking photographs, recording testimonies, and tracking project progress.
- Support the formation of WASH trainers for communities and schools from a Christian worldview.
- Coordinate staff fellowship as a junior leader.
- Provide counseling and mobilize the necessary support for staff going through difficult times at work or home.
- Support communities in forming safe water committees and managing water projects.
- Take care of and be responsible for the tools and equipment assigned for work.
- Initiate partnership relations with other ministry partners to help equip and empower communities.
- Lead prayer waves in offices.
- Coordinate sharing of the gospel during commissioning.
- Include photographs, testimonies, water quality tests, and project follow-ups in reports and evaluations.
- Support internal discipleship, fostering a Christian culture with solid values that contribute to spiritual, professional, and intellectual growth.
- Provide ongoing support for project sustainability.
- Prepare quarterly, monthly, and project-specific reports, donor reports, and significant stories relevant to the Evangelism and Discipleship program.
- Oversee capacity development for staff and external actors in Church and Community Mobilization to strengthen their commitment to holistic mission.
- Carry out other binding tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or Water Mission International (WMI) management.
What is required?
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with Water Mission's Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
- A clear God-given calling to Water Mission's mission.
- University degree or high school diploma. A degree in theology or spiritual formation courses is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience working as a Project Manager or in a relevant church management position.
- 1-2 years of experience and a high degree of discernment around promoting, equipping, and encouraging the ongoing practice of holistic mission at the local church level.
- Basic understanding of English.
- Strong computer skills; Office 365 experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Exceptional time management and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the organization's values, mission, and ending the global water crisis.
- Willingness to travel across Honduras for Water Mission programs. Travel may involve long car rides on rough terrain, standing for extended periods in warm climates, and lifting moderately heavy objects.
