Lead Component Technician
SUMMARY: The Lead Component Technician position is a role that will require the oversight of the day-to-day operations of a small team of technicians. The Lead will be expected to provide technical support to the technicians while they perform maintenance and alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Delegate and follow up on tasks assigned to their technicians.
- Create and implement process improvements to enhance our customer experience.
- Actively participate in future growth plans for their team.
- Accountable for the on time (TAT) performance of their respective areas.
- Communicate performance targets and results to teams through KPI.
- Hold their team accountable for their production levels and organizational expectations.
- Provide oversight and direction to Technicians.
- Report both production needs, challenges challenges, and successes to the Operations Manager.
- Provide training and technical support to Technicians.
- Monitor and assist production flow of components.
- Complete all components that are within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Interact with Customer Service Representatives daily to communicate status/needs, and schedule priorities.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Be involved with developing new capabilities.
- Utilize hand and specialty tools daily.
- Read and interpret technical data and drawings.
- Operate test equipment daily to ensure components pass function test.
- Verify that all components are tested to the appropriate specifications to ensure airworthiness.
- Evaluate components failing test to determine root cause of failure.
- Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- FAA Repairman License and/OR Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
- 4+ years of relevant/technical work experience OR
- An additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree/A&P license.
- Internal experience counts as 2 years of experience as it relates to meeting the requirements of a role.
- Basic computer operating skills required (Word, Excel).
- Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
- Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and data required.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and support functions fostering teamwork.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDES PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES), ETC.):
- 8+ years of technical experience in the aviation industry.
OTHER (INCLUDE LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, SECURITY CLEARANCE, TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.):
- The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
