A Brief Overview
The Compounder plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, responsible for preparing and mixing raw materials to create high-quality batches according to production schedules and specifications. This position ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards while operating and maintaining various mixing and compounding equipment. The Compounder also handles accurate documentation of batch records and collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet production and quality goals.
What you will do
- Make batches in Compounding departments within 95% of the Theoretical mixing time frame established with no rework when required.
- Operating all Mixing Tanks in the assigned department.
- Filling in all logbooks, batch sets, and documentation accurately.
- Driving the tow motor and maintaining licensure.
- Maintaining GMP knowledge and adhering to safety rules.
- Act as the point of contact between the compounding department and other departments, such as Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production, to resolve operational issues and ensure seamless communication.
- Participate in or lead initiatives to improve compounding efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall production quality.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability for production needs.
- Report equipment malfunctions or required maintenance promptly to avoid production delays. Ensure team members are trained on the proper use and maintenance of all equipment.
- Ensure the department complies with all regulatory requirements and is audit-ready at all times.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and records.
- Provide feedback to team members on performance and assist in goal setting to foster professional development.
- Act as a key responder for operational emergencies within the compounding department, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Maintain and submit detailed production reports, including batch yields, deviations, and any other required metrics.
- Intermediate computer skills, with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, JDE, DSI, and Pallet Viewer.
- Some duties may vary slightly by location.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required) or
- Post-secondary education in chemistry or a related field is an asset (Preferred)
Experience Qualifications
- 4-6 years in compounding or manufacturing, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. (Preferred)
- 4-6 years in batch documentation and GMP compliance. (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lead and mentor a team while ensuring adherence to schedules and standards. (High proficiency)
- Verbal and written communication skills for documentation and team coordination. (High proficiency)
- Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance. (High proficiency)
- Competence in compounding, equipment operation, and sanitation procedures. (Medium proficiency)
- Ability to address and resolve compounding or documentation challenges efficiently. (Medium proficiency)
- Capable of managing multiple priorities, maintaining accuracy in documentation, and upholding standards. (Medium proficiency)
