Maintenance Mechanic II - 2nd Shift
Position Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for being able to set up, troubleshoot, maintain and repair production equipment as required. Will share responsibility with Machine Operator for the operation of the production line at or above standard on a consistent basis. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities
•Consistently meet standard production outputs.
•Troubleshoot all normal mechanical difficulties during the course of production.
•Maintain specified targets, weights, torques and overall product quality at all times.
•Complete all necessary documentation according to Good Documentation Practices.
•Change the production line over from one product to another with a quick and effective line startup.
•Work with the Machine Operator and entire production team to ensure an efficient and safe working environment.
•Maintain a clean and safe production line or work area at all times.
•Assist in determining required design modifications and making approved equipment modifications.
•Comply with plant safety standards, cGMPs, current standard practices and all other plant policies/rules.
•Clean, sanitize and maintain the required documentation of all packaging equipment as required.
•Must be able to train other Mechanics in the area of machine operation, troubleshooting and changeovers.
•Participate in CI team meetings. Develop and encourage a high level of employee involvement and continuous improvement.
•May be required to work directly with Engineering staff or customers on existing product issues or new product startups.
•Order parts and support equipment as needed.
•Perform major mechanical and electrical overhauls of packaging equipment.
•Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs efficiently and in a safe manner.
•Perform and record preventative maintenance on all packaging equipment.
•Perform all duties in a safe manner using proper tools and wearing appropriate protective equipment as required.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
•High School Diploma or GED
•At least 3 years industrial mechanic experience in a high speed packaging environment or equivalent
•Basic machine shop, welding or electrical experience required
•Ability to read blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
•Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
•Forklift Certification
Physical Requirements
•Must be able to physically endure work schedule.
•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
•Ability to adjust and move equipment to complete projects.
