POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The  Director of Controlled Environment Rooms  reports to the Divisional Sr. Director, Project Managers
  • Full-Time
  • Remote within PST and MST time zones
  • This position will require 20% nationwide travel
  • Anticipated application deadline is Nov 11, 2024

 

As the Director of Controlled Environment Rooms Design/Engineering, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, design and oversight to the controlled environment rooms (CER) division within our organization. You will help lead a team of project engineers, driving excellence in CER project execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering continuous improvement in project management practices.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Strategic Direction:
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the CER division, setting clear goals, objectives, and priorities aligned with organizational strategy.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize project management processes, drive operational efficiency, and enhance overall divisional performance.
  • Team Management and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of project engineers fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the project engineering team.
  • Project Oversight and Execution:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of key CER projects within the division, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Monitor project performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to optimize project outcomes and deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, including clients, executives, and project teams, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations, address concerns, and facilitate resolution of issues to maintain alignment and support for project objectives.
  • Resource Allocation and Optimization:
    • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize project performance and achieve strategic objectives.
    • Monitor resource utilization and adjust allocations as needed to address evolving project requirements and priorities.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure divisional performance, track progress against goals, and identify areas for improvement.
    • Generate regular reports, presentations, and dashboards for senior management, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency in reading and understanding building plans and specifications as they relate to controlled environment rooms, including all related trades of plumbing, electrical, security etc. 
  • Strong CAD skills with experience designing and creating construction drawings.
  • Experience designing and programming control systems is a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower teams to achieve outstanding results.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement in project management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and navigate complex project environments with agility and resilience.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, with a proven track record of successful project delivery in diverse industries and contexts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent military or practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership position designing and installing controlled room environments, with a demonstrated track record of managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in industries such as refrigeration construction is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or Jira.
  • Ability to pass a background check and travel as needed for project requirements.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
