What is the Medical Assistant Accelerated Program (MAAP)?
- MAAP is a 6 Month Training Program in partnership with Southwestern College, San Diego Workforce Partnership and San Ysidro Health that will allow 24 participants to complete the Southwestern College Medical Assistant training program in 6 months rather than 12-24 months at no cost to the participant.
- San Ysidro Health will provide 162 hours of supervised clinical rotations and provide job placement at a San Ysidro Health site for participants who complete 162 clinical hours and pass the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam.
When will classes begin?
- Mandatory orientation is December 13, 2024
- Classes will begin January 7, 2025 – May 30, 2025 (T, W, TH, F from 9:00 am – 1:45 pm)
Where will classes take place?
- Classes will take place at Southwestern College, Higher Education Center (880 National City Blvd., National City, CA 91950)
When will clinical rotations begin?
- July 2025
Where will clinical rotations take place?
- At various San Ysidro Health sites within San Diego County
How much does the Medical Assistant Accelerated Program (MAAP) cost?
- All other program related expenses are covered (scrubs, textbooks, exam preparation, exam fees, etc.)
What are the requirements of the Medical Assistant Accelerated Program (MAAP)?
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Attend a Mandatory Orientation at Southwestern College on December 13, 2024
- Obtain Background Check clearance prior to starting clinical rotations
- Complete 162 hours of clinical training (beginning July 2025)
- Pass the National Healthcare Association (NHA) exam
