Corporate FSQA Regulatory Supervisor (SugarCreek)
DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Develop and oversee internal FSQA policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to product labeling, formulation and specification development and commercialization. Monitor relevant federal and state regulations regarding food safety and production standards and develop appropriate standards and procedures to ensure compliance.
JOB DUTIES
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations and stay current on any developments or trends regarding FSMA regulations.
- Manage compliance with Customs & U.S. Manufacturing Competitiveness Initiative (USMCI).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product labeling and specifications in compliance with applicable regulatory bodies (USDA/FDA/CFIA) for new and current products.
- Perform final review and approval for finished product labeling & specifications.
- Work with customers and internal development (R&D/Product Development) to collaborate on new products and make improvement on exiting product offering.
- Monitor legislative trends and changes in Canadian Trade Law and the Canada Safe Food Act, providing regular updates to Corporate Management and updating FSQA policies as needed to ensure compliance.
- Conduct training classes to corporate and plant employees on FSQA policies and procedures.
- Manage and update online customer portal information relating to product labeling and specifications.
- Manage and update online portal data for product inventory.
- Manage team of Corporate Quality Specialists including, but not limited to, delegating assignments, creating work schedules, and providing further training and feedback on work performance.
- Work with suppliers and customers to collect documents required for submission to obtain organic and halal certifications.
- Manage Global Data Synchronization Network for the company and assign Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) for products.
- Travel less than 40% within the U.S. to other company locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, or other related field and 3 years of experience in any occupation in which experience is gained. Also requires: Three (3) years’ experience in each of the following: Working in a quality assurance or regulatory compliance role in an industrial food manufacturing facility; Managing Global Data Synchronization Network platform such as 1WorldSync using knowledge in GS1 US standard on GTIN assignment rules; Certifying compliance with various food classifications including, but not limited to, halal, organic, and kosher requirements; Using food labeling and nutrition compliance software (such as Genesis) to track and manage nutritional facts labeling and analysis of values; Analyzing and applying USDA standards as well as those found in the FSIS Standards of Identity and Labeling Handbook; Monitoring legislative trends in food nutrition and labeling laws at both U.S. federal and state level and in Canada, specifically Canadian Trade Law and the Canada Safe Food Act; and Monitoring and Tracking, maintaining, and properly submitting appropriate compliance documentation to government portals, customers or other third parties.
