A Day in the life
A day in the life of a Business Intelligence Analyst is focused on turning data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. You’ll collaborate with technical and business partners to enhance the analytical capabilities of the Enterprise Data Analytics Platform (EDAP), developing and maintaining tools like Looker and Power BI. Using data visualization techniques, you’ll distill complex statistical analyses and business KPIs into clear, impactful information for users. Monitoring and improving the reliability of data orchestration and migration is a key part of your day, ensuring the platform runs smoothly. Additionally, you’ll provide end-user training and assist with technical issues, ensuring stakeholders can effectively utilize the platform. Through your work, you help support Stanley Martin’s mission, vision, and values while driving data-informed solutions across the organization.

What is Stanley Martin looking for?
The ideal Business Intelligence Analyst candidate is data-driven, detail-oriented and able to complete tasks effectively and on time using the necessary technical tools. They have strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on the continual improvement of systems and processes. Being able to communicate clearly, build strong internal and external relationships and manage multiple projects simultaneously is imperative to the success of this role.
Must Haves
- Knowledge of real estate homebuilding process.
- Passionate about building impactful dashboards, scorecards and data stories.
- Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into analytics application requirements.
- 3+ of experience in an analytics role, working with business intelligence solutions such as Looker and Power BI.
- Proficient in developing SQL queries and stored procedures to satisfy data and reporting needs.
- Familiarity with Snowflake.
- Familiarity with building workflows using Fivetran, Coalesce, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Databricks.
- Experience with Pandas and other data processing tools / languages.
- Willingness to build new skills in order to support the development of data applications (e.g. PowerApps).
- Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Excited to collaborate in a team environment.
- Exudes active listening, confidence, and respect when communicating with others.
- This is a hybrid position that requires 3-days per week onsite.
Nice to Haves
- Comfortable working in an Agile framework using tools such as Jira or Trello.
- Familiarity with web development, and/or RESTful APIs.
- Experience creating and maintaining documentation such as process documents and user manuals.
