Social Media Specialist
Position Summary:
The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for leading the development and execution of Stanley Martin’s social media strategy, content creation, brand reputation, public relations, and community management programs. This role requires a mix of strategic planning and hands-on execution to enhance brand visibility, drive audience growth, and support key business objectives.
As a Social Media Specialist, you will be an expert in communications and own the social media strategy across multiple platforms, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and utilize data to refine tactics for optimal performance. The ideal candidate is a versatile writer, creative storyteller, analytical thinker, and passionate about building communities in the digital space. This person will report to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Create, implement, and manage a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with overall marketing and business goals.
- Drive and lead brand reputation programs including online listening and collecting customer feedback and insights
- Develop and execute media/public relations strategies for new neighborhoods and emerging markets
- Develop, curate, and schedule platform-specific content (text, images, videos, and stories) that drives engagement and aligns with brand guidelines.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent posting and listening across all social platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Actively monitor and respond to social media interactions, including comments, direct messages, and tags, to foster engagement and address customer inquiries.
- Build and nurture relationships with influencers, followers, and advocates to expand brand reach.
- Moderate user-generated content in line with community guidelines and brand standards.
- Stay ahead of social media trends, algorithm changes, and emerging platforms.
- Serve as an in-house expert on communications and social media, providing guidance, governance and training to team members when needed.
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance metrics such as engagement, reach, clicks, conversions, and audience growth.
- Present monthly performance reports and propose improvements for ongoing campaigns.
- Draft press releases, communications and blogs for various internal and external audiences

Position Requirements:
- BS degree in marketing, journalism, communications, and/or a related field
- Master’s degree in related field a plus
- 3+ years of professional experience in social media and brand reputation management
- Experience managing social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Meltwater, Sprout Social) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, native social insights).
- Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut).
- Experience in influencer marketing, media relations and/or managing partnerships.
- Knowledge of SEO, email marketing, or broader digital marketing tactics.
- Strong attention to detail, adaptability and willingness to learn, as marketing automation evolves rapidly
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, perform under pressure and pay close attention to detail while staying focused on the big picture
- This is a hybrid position, four days a week in office (Reston, VA)
