ChemLab Operator/Technician
Lab Technicians facilitate the preparation and testing of steel samples for verification of conformance to customer and SSAB requirements.
Lab Technicians work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely handle steel samples and sample preparation equipment (disc grinder, punch press, slag grinder)
- Safely operate sample testing equipment (nitrogen, carbon, sulfur analyzers, spectrometers, X-Ray)
- Accurately reporting testing information within a timely manner
- Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment including validation checks to ensure lab testing equipment is measuring accurately
- Troubleshooting to assist in returning faulty equipment to operational status
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Computer literate (Basic operation and/or troubleshooting)
- Ability to work well with other team members
- Ability to maintain safe work area
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment
- Attention to detail. (Accuracy)
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to interpret industry specifications (ASTM/EN/API/ABS/CSA)
Preferred Qualifications
- General studies degree or higher
- Experience or training in computer hardware and/or electronics
