Job Title: Minor League Nutrition Coordinator                     

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals Minor League Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for providing our minor league players with effective strategies to perform at the highest level and optimize their performance and coordinating the nutrition services for affiliate teams.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

• Implementation of the Kansas City Royals Nutrition System. 
• Maintain effective communication regarding athlete nutrition with the Director of Sports Nutrition, strength and conditioning and medical departments.
• Assess and analyze dietary habits, body composition, and energy balance of players to enhance and maintain athletic performance.
• Manage and support minor league affiliate nutrition staff through frequent communication, direction, menu review, education and on-site visits.
• Hold minor league nutrition staff accountable to the below sections on inventory, protocols, menu planning, fatigue management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Conduct nutrition consultations to provide individualized nutrition strategies for players based on needs and/or goals.
• Work with the medical team to provide medical nutrition therapy to help manage and monitor medical conditions as well illness & injury recovery.
• Stay up to date on scientific research and trends regarding sports and medical nutrition. 
• Monitor the use of supplements by each player, promoting the NSF Certified for Sport program.
• Assist with NSF Certified for Sports supplement inventory and distribution.
• Collaborate with team physicians, field staff, coaches, athletic trainers, chefs, and front office on athlete nutritional needs.
• Integrate nutrition protocols and education with injured players and the injury rehabilitation staff.
• Oversee minor league nutrition needs adhering to assigned budgets.
• Manage and oversee the nutrition programming and recovery station at our housing complex.
• Collaborate on fatigue management and performance outcomes with other departments and nutrition staff.
• Coordinate and provide nutritional guidance for meals and snacks at all affiliates for both home and away clubhouses with the onsite nutrition staff member.
• Oversee the coordination of meals with home clubhouse managers, caterers and/or chefs.
• Provide performance nutrition education through created documents, presentations, digital communication, and other various teaching methods.
• Collaborate with the Director of Sports Nutrition in the development of education and growth for the Kansas City Royals Performance Nutrition system.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Nutrition.
• Hours include nights, weekends, some holidays, and availability in the off-season for camps.

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required.
• Master's degree in nutrition, food science, or exercise physiology, preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sports Dietitian within a professional, private, or collegiate program.
• Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), preferred.
• Ability to accurately measure and assess body composition
• Knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy, food service management, ergogenic aids, and supplementation.
• Knowledge of food service operations, quality control, and safety practices.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities.
• Self-motivator, ability to work independently as well as within a group.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in a standing position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

• Based in Surprise, AZ with travel in season
• Salary: Commensurate of experience
• Duration: Contract through 10/31/25 with ability to renew
• Meals: Provided when onsite, at least 2/day
