RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ironworkers may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople, including laborers and carpenters.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Connecting columns, beams, and girders with bolts or welding them into place
- Reinforcing/tying rebar in concrete construction
- Unload and stack prefabricated steel
- Using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel
- Placing and setting heavy machinery
- Erecting and/or dismantling structural steel frames of structures
- Operating forklifts and other heavy equipment to lift steel columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints.
- Working at heights and from aerial work platforms.
- Rig structural-steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or rope
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred
- Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices
- OSHA 10. preferred
- Operator's certificate, preferred
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task
- Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts
- Able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods
