Job Summary:
The Warehouse Inventory Control is responsible for managing inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and supporting warehouse operations to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Monitor and maintain current inventory levels; track orders, deliveries, and stock levels.
- Perform regular physical counts of inventory and reconcile discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry of inventory transactions into the inventory management system.
- Generate regular inventory reports and distribute them to relevant departments.
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of inventory forecasts and inventory replenishment plans.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and organization of inventory.
- Assist in receiving and processing incoming shipments.
- Support order picking, packing, and shipping operations as needed.
- Inspect inventory for defects, damages, and expiration dates.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all inventory handling processes.
- Communicate with suppliers, vendors, and other departments regarding inventory-related issues.
- Assist in resolving inventory discrepancies and other related issues in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes.
Skills:
- Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts and order processing.
Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues promptly.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
- Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
- Climbing ladders or scaffolding to perform tasks at elevated heights.
- Maintain clear communication with team members.
- Move quickly and efficiently to manage workload.
- Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
Work Conditions:
- Work Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Environment: While primarily indoor, with adequate lighting and ventilation, duties may mainly be performed in a warehouse setting. This may include exposure to various temperatures, dust, noise, and moving machinery.
- Primary Work Stations: Primarily work within the main areas of responsibility, including warehouse floors, storage areas, and common areas. Duties will also involve working in spaces where inventory and equipment are stored and ensuring these areas remain organized and free from hazards.
- Dress Code: Durable, comfortable clothing, such as work pants and a work shirt. A strong focus on maintaining a safe environment for employees and self. Adherence to health and safety guidelines is paramount, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals.
- Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods from equipment and tools.
- Interaction: Constant interaction with team members in a fast-paced retail environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Over one year of Warehouse Clerk experience is preferred.
- Complete the company’s OSHA-accredited forklift training.
