Position Title: Camps Supply Assistant

Division: Science Engagement & Outreach

Department: Camps

Reports to: Exhibits, Education, and Outreach Supply Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $21.00/hr

 

Position Summary

The Camp Supply Assistants work as a team with the Supply Leads and Supply Supervisor to ensure summer programming runs smoothly by assisting with organization, inventory, maintenance, and distribution of camp supplies at PacSci or offsite camp locations. Supply Assistants help with the overall daily operations of camps.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Supply Leads with organizing, distributing, and maintaining supplies
  • Assist with daily camp operations including distribution of camp materials, communication with program staff, and other operational needs as necessary
  • Pull, pack, and label supplies for internal and external request fulfillment
  • Perform administrative tasks in support of camp operations such as photocopying, paperwork, printing, etc. 
  • Maintain supply systems including physical storage spaces and digital databases
  • Load and unload camp supply vans at both PacSci and offsite camp locations
  • Assist with camper supervision when necessary, including during staff breaks, prep time, and drop off/pick up
  • Assist with camp location set up and tear down, including materials preparation, delivery, and clean up
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Approach each interaction individually and without expectation or judgement of content knowledge level of interest, or background in science
  • Maintain security and follow safety procedures
  • Work independently and with a team
  • Comply with all camp procedures including all health and safety policies and supporting campers and others in the camps space with doing the same

 

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 18 years of age at the start of camp
  • Attending training sessions at beginning of summer season
  • First Aid/AED/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • WA State Food Handlers permit or willingness to obtain
  • Available to work a minimum of 6 full weeks of the summer season (June 24-August 30)

Preferred

  • Informal education experience
  • Past summer camp experience
  • Passion for science education and early child development
  • Associate’s/bachelor's degree (or currently in pursuit)
  • Available to work all 10 weeks of the summer season (June 23-August 29) plus the following cleaning week (September 1-5)

 

Working Conditions

  • This is a temporary, full-time summer position that begins before the start of camps
  • Due to a variety of camps and locations, hours can vary, typically totaling 40 hours per week from early June through early September
  • Some camps are full day while others are half day only, this position remains full-time
  • A uniform T-Shirt is provided and required to be worn while on the job 
  • This position requires lifting (50 lbs. unassisted, program materials & supplies)
