We are currently seeking a full-time Manager of Digital Marketing to join our dynamic team. The Manager of Digital Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing digital marketing strategies across multiple platforms, increasing audience engagement, driving visitation, and promoting the Space Center Houston brand. This role will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to grow the organization’s digital footprint and reach, collaborate with internal departments and tourism/community partners, and manage digital content to support key marketing objectives. The successful candidate will have a passion for digital storytelling, and expertise in digital campaigns, content development, email marketing, social media strategy, and name acquisition. Responsibilities and qualifications are shown below:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Digital Strategy & Campaign Management
    • Develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies that align with Space Center Houston’s mission, driving engagement, increasing visitation, and expanding the digital audience across multiple platforms.
    • Lead digital campaigns to promote key exhibits, events, and educational programs through strategic paid and organic search, digital advertising, email marketing, and social media management both organic and paid.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to assess marketing needs and create integrated marketing strategies that align with institutional goals.
    • Create and maintain an agile, data-driven approach to digital marketing, setting clear and measurable performance metrics. Provide regular reporting and analysis on campaign KPIs, using tools like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and social media analytics platforms. 
  • Content Development & Creative Storytelling
    • Advance a creative content strategy that amplifies organizational messaging, telling the story of Space Center Houston’s mission. Ensure content is search-engine optimized, well-written, and on-brand to grow digital audiences.
    • Manage digital content for the organization’s website, social media platforms, email newsletters, and other online channels, ensuring consistent branding and audience engagement. Collaborate with digital content specialists to align the editorial calendar and paid campaigns.
    • Lead the development of multimedia content, including video, graphics, and written content, to engage a diverse audience. 
  • Email Marketing & Name Acquisition
    • Lead email marketing efforts, including editorial calendar management, audience segmentation, and automation strategies, to drive acquisition, retention, and conversion. Implement best practices to optimize campaign performance.
    • Develop and implement strategies for name acquisition, ensuring continued expansion of Space Center Houston’s audience.
  • Social Media Management
    • Manage social media strategy across platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube, with a focus on increasing engagement, brand visibility, and conversions that drive revenue.
    • Supervise Digital Content Specialists, adjusting tactics based on performance data to ensure campaigns meet key goals.
  • Website Management & Optimization
    • Oversee the organization’s website to ensure it supports brand standards, marketing objectives, and drives revenue growth. Regularly audit and update content to enhance user experience and maximize conversion rates.
    • Manage relationships with vendors to support ongoing website development, SEO, and content optimization efforts. 
  • Collaboration & Project Management
    • Manage two digital content specialists day to day-to-day efforts working closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to create and align an editorial calendar and paid campaigns, adjusting tactics based on data.

    • Work closely with external partners, such as tourism bureaus and NASA Johnson Space Center, to develop and implement mutually beneficial digital marketing campaigns. 

    • Collaborate with contracted agencies to coordinate digital marketing strategies and campaigns, ensuring alignment with broader marketing objectives.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously using project management software, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring, Analytics, & Reporting
    • Monitor and analyze the performance of digital campaigns, website traffic, social media metrics, and email marketing, using tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Insights. Regularly report on KPIs and provide actionable insights to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
    • Manage and optimize the Google Grants program and digital accounts such as Google Places, Charity Navigator, GuideStar, and Wikipedia.
    • Support ongoing website development needs and deliverables.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Stay current with industry trends in digital media, marketing, and public relations, ensuring Space Center Houston remains at the forefront of innovation. 

Position Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in digital marketing, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field
    • 5+ years of professional experience in digital marketing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in cultural institutions, museums, or science centers is a plus. 
    • Proven expertise in managing digital marketing campaigns including website content management, paid search, SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media. 
    • Experience with digital marketing platforms (Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Mailchimp). 
    • Excellent writing skills, especially for web and social media content. Knowledge of AP style and ability to engage audiences through storytelling. 
    • Strong experience with A/B testing, marketing automation tools, and campaign performance analysis. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress and project management software. 
    • Experience integrating traditional marketing channels with digital campaigns, including OOH, radio, and TV, is preferred. 
    • High level of professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Attention to detail in proofing and optimizing content for digital platforms. Ability to provide constructive feedback and problem-solve effectively. 
    • Available to work flexible hours, including some weekends and/or nights, for special events and high-priority initiatives. 
    • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 (Commensurate with experience)
