Our Buyers are responsible to monitor, coordinate and manage all procurement and replenishment processes in accordance with internal policies and in close collaboration with involved departments. Customer-focused purchasing orientation. Execute all aspects of purchasing and scheduling to achieve objectives for service, inventory management and operational goals. Strong collaboration with the different Focus Factories / Value Stream Teams (VST) to meet business goals (Vital Few).

 

Main Job Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • Support, promote and enforce safety across the campus. Support and promote the overall EHS initiatives and programs.  
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as defined by Viant's policies, practices and procedures to ensure that FDA and ISO regulations along with Viant quality standards are met.
  • Identify processes improvements, meet quality specifications and productivity goals for current and/or new business and programs. Continuously seek for process improvement projects, relevant to Lean Manufacturing and Innovation.
  • Drive product / process compliance investigations for non-conformances (NCs), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) and Internal / External Audits; and ensure timely completion and effectiveness of implemented actions if is requested.
  • Place Purchase Orders (PO) based on MRP system alerts.
  • Confirm Purchase Orders (PO) with supplier and update ship dates in system.
  • Work with Logistics Specialist getting necessary documents from suppliers to include cargos in weekly shipments.
  • Generate purchasing reports.
  • Maintain constant communication with internal and external stakeholders in regards to customer satisfaction.
  • Take actions on duties outlined under her/his responsibility when applicable.
  • Interact with all Departments to communicate shortages material appropriately.
  • Monitor and maintain purchasing parameters for procured items.
  • Timely reporting of key metrics.
  • Coordinate with planning area the availability of raw materials to meet the established production levels.
  • Identify and participate in Purchasing Price Variances (PPV) opportunities.
  • Participate on project teams if required.  
  • Support product launch manager on management activities as required.
  • Monitor Inventory levels. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including metrics for production performance according to the requested production plan.
  • Track Suppliers performance.  Identify gaps and drive solutions with Supplier and Viant Supplier Quality representative.
  • Develop inventory targets and manage Purchase Orders to achieve target inventory levels.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, or projects at the direction of immediate supervisor. 


Knowledge / Education:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish – Advanced English level (written and spoken).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or International Trades.
  • Knowledge on ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodology (yellow / green belt certification) and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Additional Knowledge it’s considered a Plus. 

 

Job Experience: 

  • From 2 to 4 years of experience in purchasing and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within the medical device manufacturing or pharmaceutical fields, or any other highly regulated industry (i.e. food, aerospace, etc.) is a plus.
